Our Mission
BRIC will create eight resilience networks and delivery programmes, and work with new technological and social mechanisms to enable local people, businesses and organisations to work collaboratively with flood management and other authorities to reduce the social and economic impacts of flooding through innovative service design.
BRIC Project Outputs
BRIC project partners know that flood risk awareness and preparedness, as well as support for solutions is low, particularly in deprived communities. With flooding set to increase as climate change progresses, this must be improved. The BRIC outputs encourage the creation of community resilience networks that support citizens in working better together with local authorities to co-create and co-deliver flood risk responses and flood management guidance.
8 Resilience Networks
To create eight resilience networks in pilot areas. While they will initially focus on flooding, they will be capable of adapting to address other local issues for which social innovation will be beneficial.
8 New Innovative Services
To redesign eight resilience services setting out multi-governance arrangements for flood risk management service transformation through co-creation of the new BRIC resilience model.
Web-based platform
BRIC will create a web-based platform that will leave a lasting legacy that can support communities and other networks to build resilience. The platform will host training courses, advice and guidance, case studies, reviews for new innovation and technology tools and project reports.
Resilient Toolkit for Best Practice
Bringing together resilience science, social innovation theory and Appreciative Inquiry, the BRIC Resilience Toolkit will be a new model for social innovation, showcasing best practice and fresh ways of thinking.
